Our School Council

Our School Council has been established for a number of years.  Children from Year 3 to 6 are elected as a representative group to have an input into various aspects of school life.  They are given the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about school life and how working together as a community we can further improve Our Lady & St Swithin's School. KS1 and EYFS have designated councillors so all are involved in school debates and plans.

The children are elected  and take part in activities which focus on:

  • What is the School Council
  • What are the aims of the School Council
  • What are the roles and responsibilities of a School Council representative

Engaging in activities to develop and promote good communication skills, team building, determination, social confidence , British values and leadership skills.

The representatives meet regularly with Mrs Hamilton to share ideas and discuss areas for development.  Initiatives include:

  • planning our quad areas with Hope and L. J.M.U University
  • looking at our school meals to improve choice and  stay healthy
  • being part of a clean up Croxteth Campaign with Councillor Anthony Lavelle
  • Running a whole school competition on how to make our school a better place
