Learning Through Stories

Autumn Term:

This term, Reception shared the big book ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’. We read the story to familiarise ourselves with the story sequence. We then acted out the story, using our very own allotment and vegetables that we harvested.

We then sliced, diced and chopped a variety of vegetables to make our very own vegetable soup. It was delicious!

Spring Term:

This term we looked at the story of ‘Cinderella’. We learned the story by heart and performed or own pantomime. We wrote our own invitations to Nursery and then acted out the story.

This term we have also been looking at ‘The Little Red Hen’. We have shared the story between ourselves and acted it out, using the actions to remember the order of the story. We have made our own bread just like the little red hen (it was delicious) and then we created our own story sequence by drawing out what happened.
