Dear Year 3,
We are Miss Dunn and Miss Scattergood and we are so excited to be with you this year. Year 3 is such a great year full of new learning opportunities, and we will be there supporting you at every step.
Our aim is to create a classroom that is an engaging, supportive and safe, where everyone feels encouraged to do their very best, even when this can be hard. Together, we will take on new challenges, build our resilience and explore our curiosity.
We look forward to a fantastic year and thank you for your continued support.
Things to remember:
Bring plain water to school
Bring a waterproof jacket
Bring a healthy snack for breaktime
PE kits to be brought into school on Tuesdays
Well-being Wednesdays
Spellings and new reading books will be given out each Friday
Homework menus are sent out at the beginning of each half term.

Y3 Art
Autumn 1 - This term in Art, we are learning new techniques for drawing and painting. We are learning about shading from light to dark with different mediums such as oil pastels and paint. This also includes looking at different methods of mark-making and practicing complex techniques such as tonking and sgraffito.
Y3 PE
Autumn 1 - This term in PE, we will be working on our coordination skills, balance and teamwork. We will be learning how to stay focused on throwing and catching while moving around and applying these in different games. This will also include practicing collaboration and working as a team to practice these skills.
Y3 Music
Autumn 1 - This term in Music, we will be learning how to play the ukulele. Each week, we will build on our new skills and be able to practice these in class.
Y3 RE
Autumn 1 - This term in RE, we are focussing on Creation and Covenant. We will be building on our previous learning by retelling the Creation story in our own way, helping us gain a deeper understanding and connection with it. We will be thinking about how the meaning of different elements of the story and how we can reflect the message in our own lives.
Y3 PSHE
Autumn 1 - This term in PSHE, we are discussing what safe and healthy relationships look like with friends and family. We will be discussing different family dynamics as well as understanding different ways we can ask for help.
Y3 Computing
Autumn 1 - This term in Computing, we are learning to code using Scratch. We will be learning new skills and then combine them to make animations.
Y3 History
Autumn 1 - This term in History, we will be learning about life in the Stone Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. We will be exploring how life was different for people during that time and the impact that it has had on our lives today.
Y3 Science
Autumn 1 - This term in Science, we will be learning about Rocks. We will explore different types of rocks, how these are formed and linking this to the process of fossilisation. Learning will take place through discussions, investigations and conducting our own research.
Y3 English
Autumn 1 - This term in English, we will explore our creating writing through an approaching threat narrative based on The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will delve into descriptive writing of settings and characters, and consider how we are making the reader feel with our writing.
Y3 Maths
Autumn 1 - This term in Maths, we will be deepening our understanding of place value within addition and subtraction. We will be looking at three-digit numbers, recognising and understanding what each digit is worth, and using different representations to support this. Our reasoning and problem-solving skills will
