SMART School Councils

SMART School Councils is a simple, engaging online platform that helps primary schools establish and manage an effective school council. It provides resources, activities and guidance to support pupil voice, leadership and democratic participation, enabling children to share their views, discuss issues, make decisions and contribute to positive changes across the school. It helps schools develop confident, responsible and active pupils while making school council meetings structured, purposeful and inclusive.

Debates

The OLSS v Belle Vale CP Debate, hosted by SMART School Councils, gave pupils from both schools the opportunity to develop their confidence, communication and critical-thinking skills through a friendly and structured debate. Children shared their views, listened respectfully to different opinions and responded to arguments from the opposing team. The event provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to practise speaking in front of others, work collaboratively and demonstrate the importance of pupil voice and respectful discussion.
