WELCOME TO ARC 2D

ARC 2D follows the Equals Informal Curriculum, which is designed to provide practical, meaningful and engaging learning experiences that help pupils develop the skills they need for everyday life and future learning. The curriculum focuses on supporting pupils to make progress in the following areas:

  • Communication

  • Independence

  • Functional literacy and numeracy

  • Social interaction

  • Personal development

Learning is delivered through practical, hands-on and thematic experiences that are personalised to meet each child's individual strengths, interests and needs. This approach encourages pupils to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning while making meaningful connections across different areas of the curriculum.

To monitor and celebrate your child's progress, pupils following the Informal Equals pathway are assessed using the B Squared Engagement steps & Primary Steps framework. This assessment tool enables teachers to carefully track the small steps of progress pupils make across all curriculum areas while maintaining high expectations and ensuring clear progression.

Using this consistent approach allows staff to:

  • Recognise and celebrate achievements.

  • Identify each pupil's next steps in learning.

  • Measure progress towards individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes.

  • Plan personalised learning that supports continued growth and success.

As they progress on their own personal learning journey they will move onto more complex skills however these will still be delivered and reinforced through a more functional approach. We value strong communication between home and school.

ASSESSMENT

The children are assessed throughout the year via Earwig Academic Timelines.

Earwig is an online system that our school uses to record learning and progress. Teachers add photos, videos and notes about what your child has been doing in class. These are organised into a timeline so you can see their journey over time. As a parent, you will be invited to see your child's academic timeline during parent evening sessions where you can celebrate achievements, and see how they are getting on at school.
