This week we explored life in the Sahara Desert and found out that oases provide water for camel and they are found in different places across the Sahara Desert.
It was a wonderful treat to be able to wear red, white and blue to show our support for, and celebrate, England’s first game in the World Cup! ⚽️
A fantastic start to our new term in Year 4. This started with some excellent setting poems created based on our new book - The Sky Garden. We also enjoyed getting back into our chess lessons. We achieved so much in chess this year!
We are continuing to work hard with Ukulele sessions and are becoming capable musicians.
We worked in groups to explore and discuss different representations of Mary throughout the years. It was interesting to see the similarities that different pieces of artwork had and the many representations we could see in them.
We have had a busy week. We used counters to help us flexibly partition decimals and enjoyed building our understanding of branching databases in computing by working on Total Darkness.
We enjoyed taking our maths lesson outside and working with Year 5 to practise our timestables.
Some of us made our First Holy Communion on 9th May so we took some time in class to reflect and write our own Holy Communion prayer. We used our School Mission Statement to help us.
Chess looked a little different this week as we did it in the hall but we really enjoyed it and are making great progress.
In our Journey In Love lesson, we focused on recognising things about ourselves that we like, for example our kindness, our sense of humour, our ability to participate in different activities.
We were very lucky this week as we got to meet the amazing Beth Tweddle and hear all about her fantastic achievements and discussed what how we can stay fit and healthy.
We also researched St. Teresa of Avila and explored her poem Christ Has No Body. We took from it that Christ lives in all of us in everything we do: all our actions and all our words.
We enjoyed our emotional literacy session with Steph from Alder Hey, making us more aware of our emotions and how to handle them.
We have started our new Geography topic ~ Earthquakes. We discussed what we felt would be the most frightening part of an Earthquake.
We used our school mission statement to identify our own, and other strengths so we know how to help each other reach our potential.
We enjoyed our last LSSP session playing dodgeball, putting into practice all the skills we have developed in previous weeks.
We are developing our debating skills excellently in our class council sessions and coming up with some excellent ideas to implement!
We have also learnt about the parable of the Goats and Sheep and we discussed how we could be more like sheep in our journey knowing Jesus more clearly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Grow with Me session with Food for Thought making potato planting mazes!
We are turning into game creating champions in our computing lessons!
We are making excellent progress in our music lessons with Ukulele. We also decided in our class discussion sessions that we would like to have more opportunities dedicated to independent reading so we also enjoyed sharing this with our friends.
We worked hard to discuss and create our Lenten promises. We also enjoyed our LSSP session that focused on developing our team work skills.
To celebrate Safer Internet day, we talked about how to recognise AI and when is appropriate to use it.
In our School Smart Council sessions, we decided that we would like a class gratitude jar to recognise all the things we are thankful for. Here it is! Everyone can contribute so we would love for our family and friends to send in things that they are thankful for so we can fill our jar with thanks and positivity!

This week, Year 4 began their POWER project, led by the fantastic coaches at LSSP. Throughout these sessions, pupils will explore the importance of physical activity and discover the positive impact it can have on both our bodies and overall wellbeing.
Our investigation explored which would melt faster: ice in water or ice with salt added, helping us learn how salt affects melting.
Y4 have been exploring area in their maths lessons.
