Children explored mark making outside, using big chalks and drawing their favourite things

Linking our learning to Lunar New Year, we searched for gems for the dragons to fill our ten frame. Lots of opportunities for 1:1 correspondence and number composition

Alongside our learning of 6,7 and 8, we looked at how to represent these numbers. We looked at different dot representations and how to show this on our ten frame.

This week we have been looking at the composition of 5. We played a game to see how many landed inside and outside the pot.

Reception enjoyed a special visit from the local fire brigade this week, to link with our learning about People who help us in the community!

This week in maths we read 'Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons'. We looked at 'one less' and used the counters to remove one button each time

This week we have been looking at patterns in nature. We went on a hunt and collected some items to bring back and make observational drawings

This week in ART, Reception have been learning all about colour mixing. We became artists for the afternoon and explored colour mixing in a variety of ways
