This week we had a fantastic time at Martin Mere. We created nature trails, saw lots of species of birds and even managed to spot some otters.

As part of mental health week, we enjoyed taking part in a workshop to help us understand different ways to support our mental health.

This week, year 2 have loved celebrating number day with lots of activities linked to number while we ‘dressed for digits’.

This week in maths, we have started our topic of multiplication and division. The children explored equal group in preparation for arrays.

In music this week, the children have loved composing and performing their own short rhythm patterns, developing an understanding of 'ostinato'.

This week in English, the children have loved exploring our example text from 'The Bog Baby' to identify different features of writing that have been used.

This week in PE, we have been practising our ball skills. The children developed their hand-eye coordination whilst practising accuracy and speed.

This week in Year 2 we have loved preparing for Christmas. We explored the travelling nativity, retelling the story and made sure we knew all our lines and the words to the songs for our nativity performance.

In History this half term, we have been learning all about Great Change Makers of the World. This week the children have enjoyed acting in the role of a Victorian child, comparing life in the 1800s to modern times due to the changes brought about by The Earl of Shaftesbury.

This week in Science, we have been learning about keeping healthy and the effect exercise has on the body. The children enjoyed going for a run to feel some of the effects before writing about them.

This week in Year 2, we have had great fun in our computing lessons. We have been carrying out data collection before learning how to create a factfile.

Friday 21st November 2025

This half term in Year 2 we are exploring the Annunciation of Mary. We have retold the Annunciation in a number of ways and the children have loved creating puppets to act out Mary hearing God's word and her response.

Friday 14th November 2025

This half term in Year 2, we are exploring Addition and Subtraction in Maths. The children have enjoyed using place value charts to support them to add two 2-digit numbers and we are really growing in confidence!

Friday 7th November 2025

This half term in Year 2 we are exploring the works of Kandinsky. The children have created some fantastic pieces as we began to explore the use of 2D shapes, primary colours and develop our skills using slow, controlled movements to fill in small spaces.
